Privacy
What we collect, and what we don't.
HashNepal is a static editorial site. There are no user accounts, no comment threads, no newsletter sign-ups, and no advertising network. The site is designed to leave a small footprint on the reader.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for, store, or process names or email addresses.
- We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We do not embed social-media trackers, share-buttons that phone home, or chat widgets.
- We do not sell, rent, or share reader data, because we do not collect it.
Analytics
The site uses (or may use) a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, for example Plausible or Umami, to count page views in aggregate. These tools do not place cookies, do not collect IP addresses in any identifiable form, and do not build cross-site profiles of visitors. The figures we look at are things like “how many people opened Chapter III today.”
If you would still prefer not to be counted, any standard browser privacy mode, tracker-blocker, or DNS-level blocker will exclude you without affecting how the site works.
Server logs
Whoever hosts the static files for this site (the CDN or web host) will keep short-lived access logs as a matter of routine operations, typical fields are IP address, requested URL, timestamp, and user-agent string. These logs exist to keep the site online and to repel abuse. HashNepal does not use them for any other purpose and does not combine them with analytics data.
Local storage
The storytelling mode remembers where you stopped listening so the next visit can offer “continue where you left off.” That single piece of state (chapter, paragraph, and the position inside the audio) is stored in your browser's local storage under the key hashnepal:listen-pos:v1. Nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser's site data, or choosing “Start from beginning,” removes it. The site works normally without it; you simply lose the resume prompt.
Cookies
HashNepal does not set any cookies of its own. The local storage entry above is strictly necessary for the resume feature, lives entirely in your browser, and is not transmitted anywhere.
Embedded media
Images, fonts, and audio served by the site are first-party. The site does not embed third-party video players, social timelines, or comment systems. External links open to the destination site, control.
Children
The subject matter (religion, drug policy, criminal law) is adult. The site is not directed at children, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes will be flagged in the body text rather than slipped in silently.
